2020 – Annus Horribilis – Dr. Lalthangmoi Hmar

The world stood still in its stride.
Man and machine came to a grinding halt.
Faces lined in anxious dread.
Darkness and gloom all around.
Sickness and suffering abound.
Grief and fear all so real.
Thee, begone! Annus horribilis!

A gale of death bellows on
All across the seven seas and land,
On man of all and sundry.
Uncertainty looming large.
In woe and despair they waited
For the gale to slip out.
Thee, begone! Annus horribilis!

Desolation everywhere!
The trees grew in uncared abundance.
Abandoned pets hound the parks.
The smog clears but death reigns on.
Somehow casting its pall of gloom
On every soul that quivers.
Thee, begone! Annus horribilis!
