Somebody once told me
“You don’t have a say”.
It cut a deep wound.
Try as I might,
The scar refused to go.
My motherland tells me
“You do have a say”.
It boost my self-worth
To have my say
And balm my many scars.
One vote can change the course.
History tells us how.
Think of the lives lost
For the freedom
For you to have a say.
Whether my choice wins or loses,
It does not matter.
I still have “A say”
And raise my voice
Because I cast my vote.
