For bravery and altruism,
For compassion and sacrifice,
For their brains and talents of varied hues.

They are knighted and proclaimed with seal,
They are feted and applauded,
They are given tributes and eulogized.

By kings and nations to their subjects,
By the teachers to their pupils,
By the learned elites amongst their peers.
Many an honour bestowed on man of old;
Bestow him the honour due to him.
Better in life than after death.
For in life, this honour he will treasure.

Which is the highest honour of all?
